Which of those two guns would appreciate the most over time? Which are in highest demand from collectors now?The Model 18 is a blued 4" gun and the nickel Model 19-4 is also 4". Both are 96-98% and both are all original. The Model 18 has box and papers; the Model 19 does not. Thanks for any input. I could be wrong but it would seem the Model 18 is harder to find.

Both are very desirable guns and both will appreciate in value over time. Speaking for myself, I'd be most interested in the nickel Md. 19. I love nickel and and depending on price that would be my choice even without the box and docs. And yes, the Md. 18 is a great gun and not easy to find but nickel 19s aren't that common either. If the prices are fair I'd do my best to get both of them. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I'm not as familiar with the Mod. 18, but I bought a really nice nickel 19-4, 4" a year or so ago for $550 & sold it a month later for $700 or $750 in two days, here (I think). Beautiful thing, but I'm trying to get out of .357. P&R Mod. 19's are never a bad investment IMHO. Good luck.

P.S., the kid I bought it from said he has going directly to the local gun store to buy a Tupperware selfloader. KIDS!

Ditto on the 18, I see a lot fewer nice model 18's for sale than 19's. Nickel may affect it some, but I am not into nickel.

I believe I can get them both bought (from a private individual) for $1,000 or possibly a bit less; he has a number of guns for sale at present.

Can't believe you took the time to even ask! At $500 each both of those guns are well under current market value. The 18 includes the periphery items desired by "collectors" and would probably bring top $ over time. Although, the 19 is no slouch either.

What else has he got???

Yes it is worth a speeding ticket to get there quick and get them. JIM

For a $1000 for both, it's a definite buy! As for increasing in value, the Model 18 with original box and papers will increase at the greater pace, but a factory nickel plated Model 19-4 is not particularly common and will continue to gain value.

Buy both at that price! The boxed 18 will probably gain more value.

I know the owner of these guns and did him a favor or two in the past 24 months. I've already purchased a Colt 4" blued Python, a Colt 2 1/2" .38 Diamondback and a nickel 2" Detective Special---all pristine, all very collectible, at very reasonable prices.. Recently I purchased a mint Winchester Model 94 with a 1951 serial number; it almost looks unfired.

He has his deceased Dad's firearms for sale, but wants to attract as little attention as possible in divesting himself of them and he does NOT want to sell to a dealer. Remaining are the two guns discussed above, plus a mint nickel Model 67 4" .38, a mint nickel Model 25-5 in .45LC, a couple of Model 60's, a 3913 9mm and assorted long guns..he is letting me take my time as I come into $$ to buy the ones I want....it's really an unbelievably fortunate situation and it came about by my finding a well heeled buyer for some of the long guns in the collection.

Buy both and then sell me the 19 at a profit. I already have enough .22s.
