S&W Model 18-4 ?

Last weekend I saw a S&W Model 18-4 which was stamped as such on the yoke. The cylinder and barrel were 22 cal mag.The barrel was so stamped.Was this revolver sent from the S&W factory as a model 18 or was it supposed to be stamped as model 48? I do not have the serial number but can get it if it helps in determining what is the correct model number.

Probably a mismarked 48,rather than a conversion to 22 magnum.Only a letter would confirm,and not worth spending $50 on,imo.

Guns lie! Yours is about the third or fourth one like that posted here in the last few years. I figure either someone messed up, or they decided to divert some frames. Mis-marked guns don't seem to bring a premium, but they're interesting.
