Look at it this way- you can go to most any gun shop or gun show (around here, anyway) and you can't swing a dead cat by the tail without knocking at least two Glock 19s off the table. ;) How many clean S&W Model 19-5s do you usually find for sale new at your local gun shop/gun show? So which can you replace later, easiest?

I purchased a very clean Model 19-5 for $640 out-the-door from LGS in June. I think that you got a good deal.

A friend picked one up a few months ago for $650. He's looking for a Hogue type grip for it, firing .357 is giving him blisters from the wood grip. Anyone know a source for a rubber type grip?

You did fine. Can always get a another Glock 19.

Google Hogue, Inc. They make a rubber fingergroove grip. I have them on my M28 and M19. Good stuff.

Congratulations! Everyone on this forum would have jumped on that deal in a heartbeat. If you don't know much about that model, I'd recommend that you take it to a gunsmith you trust to look it over closely. He can tell you if it's mechanically sound, or if it has any issues. Hope you enjoy your Smith.

I am also new on the site. I would have jumped on that deal as well. I personally prefer the m66 stainless steel version of the 19. Have shot my dads for years but I can't seem to find a good deal on one to buy for myself. What is a good price on one?

19-6 357 Magnum

I have a 19-6 with pacmeyer grips that shots great. Wouldn't trade it for anything. At the range, hunting, or just shooting for proficiency it makes everyone's head turn. Great handgun that you just can't beat.

In my area an M66 will start at about $600- $700, in good condition, depending on dash number.

Getting a 19-5 in trade for a $450 Gluck is an excellent deal IMO.

I often think of gun trades and deals like this. If there is something I want that is either hard to find or out of production, I will gladly trade off something that I can easily replace for it.

Ah, the old dreaded "what's it worth" question. It is worth exactly what you paid, and when/if you ever sell it then it will be worth exactly what the buyer payed you for it.

I have Hogue rubber combats for my 19. They were easy to find, and not expensive at all. They make shooting .357 pretty smooth. Then you've just got the unholy boom and 3 foot fireball to deafen and blind yourself with.

I have pachmayr's but my snub 19 isn't wearing them. I keep the wood grips on with a Tyler T Grip. Good control and I like the look. If your into rubber grips try Midway USA.
