I will try to get pictures posted. Just not qualified to accomplish that task right now.

I have a S&w model 1917 Brazilian contract in 45 acp, Serial number 192388. It is in excellent condition, could be refinished, when was it manufactured and potential value. It has the original lanyard loop.

Thanks

Either way congratulations on your new revolver. My '37 Brazilian was my reintroduction to shooting the .45 acp in a heavy framed revolver. Its a terrific cartridge for older guys as the recoil is very manageable and the field is wide open for reloading possibilities, accuracy potential is also very good. After some modifications to an already modified model I ended up with a perfect carry gun that I feel highly competent with while out and about.

That serial number should put its manufacture date right around 1938.

Potential value is always hard to say without seeing it or at least a lot of good pictures. But if it's in excellent condition, even if refinished, it should be worth $500 easy, maybe more. Original stocks in excellent condition would help its value a lot.
