I've had this awhile now, of course haven't fired it. I've always wanted a Nickeled S&W for some time. Most that I have looked over usually the nickel looks like someone rubbed steel wool over it. The nickel on this is just amazing.i also have the presentation box with it. The insert isn't cracked or broken at all just needs reflocked.

Very nice gun, nickel, Model 27-2, and has the 8 3/8" barrel.
What's not to like?

Oh, and I forgot the nice smooth Presentation grips.

That gun is a home run for sure.

I have basically the same gun, but mine had checkered Targets, and sadly no presentation case. But the nickel finish on mine is also immaculate.

That gun scratched 2 itches. One, I didn't own a nickel plated Smith, and I also had never owned an 8 3/8th gun.

I guess it's only a matter of time before I have to get one.
The question… 27-2 8 3/8… blue first or nickel?
But do I get the 4" first? Blue or nickel??
I have 27-2 in 5" 6" 6.5" blue and 5" and 6" Nickel…
How many do I need?
I wrestle with the addiction

Lord, you give them ears, yet they won't listen when I speak...I've told you many times the answer to these questions is always "Yes"......Ben

Almost but not quite

My own brace of bright nickel N-frames, a cased 8-3/8" M57, alongside a 6-1/2" M29-2. My very first N-frame was a cased bright nickel 6" M27-2, which sadly got away from me years ago.

It's entirely up to you, of course, but I'd suggest shooting it. That's what it was made for.

I know, I'd like to shoot it but knowing me, I probably won't. If I would what is the preferred cleaner. I heard Hoppes will yellow nickel guns. All in all though I'll probably sell it so it will go to a nice collection.

Not sure what a nickelodeon gun is, but Hoppes No. 9 will not damage S&W factory nickel finishes. As for yellowing a nickel finish, I guess if you use Hoppes No. 9 as a protective coating it could leave a yellow colored varnish on the nickel. In my opinion, the best way to protect a firearm's finish is to clean it with a solvent, like Hoppes No. 9, remove the solvent and apply oil or wax. Yes, more work, but for me a little extra work is better than removing a varnish or finding rust spots.
