I would like to know if anybody can tell me the approximate date of manufacture of a Model 39-2 with serial number A2732xx.

Also, the gun has a 101mm barrel and is therefore classed as prohibited in Canada (yeah, Draconian, eh?). Where could one obtain a barrel for this gun that is greater than 105mm in length to make it legal? And what else would need to be replaced on this gun to make it not only legal, but also to look as good as it did coming out of the box?

Thank you!

The serial dates to late '75. The 39-2 production ended in '82 so the barrel might be a hard item to come up with, I've never heard of any extended ones being made.

Thanks. That would correlate well with the purchase date in June of '76. Still have the original handwritten receipt ($207.60) and even the price tag that was tied to the trigger guard!

I hope I can find a barrel for this pistol, otherwise it will have to leave the family, due to it currently being in the 'prohibited' class of firearms with a 101mm barrel length.

Stay safe!

Do a google search for Dragon Fire barrels. I think they made some replacement extended and/or threaded barrels for the 39/59 series.

Class III

Edit: I just did the google on them. it's EFK Fire Dragon and the barrles for the 39/59 are no longer listed on their web page. I did another google search and can't find anyone making extended barrels for the 39/59.

Thank you.

I sent an email to Lone Wolf Distributors (as suggested by another member) and am awaiting their response. I will also try to call Numrich and EFK Dragon tomorrow.

Thanks again!

I remember that name from a long time ago when I was looking for a barrel bushing compensator or ported barrel for my 439.

I think I sent EFK FD a query from their home page, but as yet have not heard back. The Lone Wolf armorer graciously replied that they specialize in Glock parts. I will keep hunting.

Thank you, all!

I've also heard Clark used to accururize and make barrels and even re-work to remove bulges too
You might try them if they have an old one kicking around and no luck anywhere else

A company called Federal Arms used to make ported and threaded barrels for LOTS of semiautos. They were longer than 'standard' length.

I don't know if they did for the Model 39 though.

Worth checking on, though.

Good luck.

If you can't keep the 39-2, I'm sure quite a few forum member would be interested in it!
