I finally found a Model 39-2 to replace "The one that got away" I found it at the local Cabelas, and their new polices with trigger locks etc. really didn't give me a chance to fully inspect it. I got it home and the hammer follows the slide. I tried to manually cock it, and it will not cock. I called Cabela's, and they said to bring it back and the they would give my money back. I took it my LGS and they said they could fix. That was 3 months ago. They haven't looked at yet. I asked if they could do something to clean up the Double action? They said that they will not do a trigger job. I am wondering if there are any gunsmiths that specialize in working on these guns?

Frank Glen, and Novak's Custom come to mind. If they can't do the work you need thay may know someone who can. Parts are still available on the web, E-Bay and other vendors are good sources for parts. Keep in mind that many gunsmiths will no longer work on these guns due to the fact that, in many cases, new OEM parts are no longer available.

(I have a few, early 39 specific parts that I could provide if all else fails, and you can't find needed replacements. Hammer, trigger, sear, slide stop assy, old style dissconnector, etc.)
