Hello,

I wasn't sure what this mag was and someone said it may be a Model 39 mag. The follower definitely matches what I am seeing as a Model 39 mag but the body and floor plate does not. Can anyone verify what this mag is?

Thank you in advance

Definately not a standard Model 39 magazine .
Those deep channels on the side kinda look like a caliber conversion magazine, have you tried to insert it in a model 39 yet?
Have you tried to load a 9mm round in it yet?

Yeah, it would be interesting to know if you can load 9mm in that magazine. It looks too narrow.

I do not have a m39 to try it in but I did load it with 9mm. It is definitely 9mm. 8rds

Here are a couple of photos showing the follower and back I borrowed from a post the OP had on another forum. Maybe this will help.

It's not for a S&W Model 39 or any of the variations of the 39, x39, 39xx pistols.

It does kinda have a 1911 shape to it ...

If forced to venture a guess maybe a
38 super or 9mm mag for a 1911?

See if it locks in a 1911.

I have the same mag. I bought it at a gun show years ago. Don’t remember what they said it was for. It is not for the 38 wadcutter or the 38 super as they are to long in the mag. Tried it in a Rock Island 9mm I have and it does not fit very well. You have to depress the mag release to insert the magazine. It does lock back the slide when done manually. It holds 8 9mm cartridges.

Go on fleabay used 9mm magazines and see if you can match it to pics.
Hundreds of 9mm pistols and not all 9Luger. Also 38acp and Super which will fit some 9mm mags. Knowing what you have is the difference of big bucks vs $00.

Sorry guys, it has been a busy few days. Originally my first thought was that it is a 9mm 1911 mag. I originally posted it in the 1911 forum asking if anyone recognized it. A member there mentioned it may be a M39 mag so that's why I posted here. When I looked into the m39 mags I saw the "x" follower that matched my mag but noticed the body and floor plate are wrong. I never thought to check it's fit in one of my 1911s until someone mentioned it. It fits perfectly in a full size .45acp 1911, and works with mag release. It is definitely 9mm. Doesn't fit .38 or 38 super.
