S&W Model 4506

Does anyone here know where I can find the factory specs on this pistol. Also, if anyone here is familiar with them or better yet has one, I would sure appreciate any info you can provide on your experience with it. I'm considering the purchase of one but really don't know anything about them.

I have a 4506. It's hands down the most accurate and easy to shoot .45 I've ever owned, and I've owned a fair amount of 45s.

I'd even go so far as to say it's the easiest gun to shoot accurately I've ever owned. I love mine and will never part with it-and I don't get attached to firearms.

If it's in good shape and the price is $400-$450, go for it. I'd gladly pay a bit more than that for a really nice example.

I love my two. I even bought a 1006. It is probably my favorite pistol design of all time. Easy to shoot and work with, super accurate, and known to digest all matter and make of ammunition.

I have a 4566 and wouldn't trade it for anything. I am looking for the right deal on a 4506 and a 4513/6 or 457. Buy it and love it.

What particular specs are you seeking? The 4506's have 5" barrels, 8+1 capacity, are available with fixed or adjustable sights, weigh around 43 ozs and were officially discontinued in 1999 - although runs were made into 2006. Regards 18DAI

I could not find any official specs for you on the internet. I own a 4506 and agree that it is a wonderfully accurate 45 acp.

They are a damn fine gun.They are Built like a tank and shoot like a dream. Do a general search on here and you will get a ton of info. on this excellent firearm.

The 4506 is probably one of, if not the most popular model of the S&W 3rd gen pistols.

Reliable to a fault, feeds and shoots just about any .45 ACP ammo that you can stuff into the magazine to send down the barrel.

I have the full size 4506-1 and the compact 4516-1 version. If ever a time comes where I find myself in the position of needing to sell off some of my herd for financial reasons, those two guns will be among the very last to go... that's how much I like them.

thanks guys. We're going to go take a look at it in a couple days. At 43 ounces they should handle the .45acp pretty well.
