A woman over on pistolworld.com has a handgun that she inherited from her father and she knows nothing about it.

When she finds out the details, etc., she is going to sell it. I know nothing about them but figured some expert here would.

Not sure why she needs the details. It's a Model 48. You can see it's a 6" gun chambered in .22 Magnum. My opinion is it's worth $450-500. Just put a price on it and sell it.

Road Rat,

It's definitely an "Early" Model 48 being a 4-Screw!! Possibly a Very Early one,but Without a Serial No. Range & Model Stamping from the Crane it's going to be hard to say when. Is it possible for you to find out any additional information?? The Revolver also looks to be "Fully Loaded" as far as Options as well!! If the Revolver's Target Hammer,Trigger & Smooth Rosewood Target Stocks can be documented as being shipped in this configuration it has a fair amount of value also. Theoretically,it should show up as being shipped between 1959-1960,but without a letter it's hard to say. Keep us posted!!

Take Care!!

That is a highly optioned four screw Model 48. It was most likely shipped in 1959, which was the first year of production for that model. It shoots standard .22 Magnum ammunition. I hope that helps.

That is definitely one I would buy if given the opportunity at a fair price. It would be nice to have the optional 22LR cylinder as well which was included with some Model 48's. Not sure when that started.
