S&W Model 50 seems a paradox

With the features that one has in between 1966 and 1982 to get any closer we would need the serial number from the butt of the grip include any letters as they are part of the serial number.

50J207 is on the butt

I also would like some black rubber grips for it. Who has some good ones?

Here's another 38 Special I have.

Yes, I know we are reviving a 6-year-old thread here

For reference, this is what a blue, 2"Chiefs Special Target looks like. It could have no model number, Model 36 or model 50. These were made in several runs over a 30 or 40 year period, thus the diffeent markings

This is what a stainless, 2"Chiefs Special Target looks like

The black rubber boot grips on the last one are made by Uncle Mikes

As you can see, a Chiefs Special Target is easily identifiable by its trademark "Shark Fin" front sight and adjustable rear sight

I love the look of the SS one with the black grip

Assembly was probably late in 1971. It could easily have shipped in 1972. That's about as close an estimate as you can get from us. If you need to know the exact date and the location to which it shipped, you will have to purchase a letter of authenticity from the S&W Historical Foundation. Currently the fee for a letter is $100.
