S&W Model 57 in 41mag with an 8 3/8" barrel in blue or nickel finish.

Since S&W doesn't offer it anymore can one be manufactured if it was ordered?

Call em and ask if they have an 8 3/8 barrel. If they have the barrel it can be fitted to a new gun with a shorter barrel.

I would like to have another brand new model 57 in 41mag with the 8 3/8" barrel to add to my collection of 41mag's. I want to shoot it too. Bill

BTW; I just purchased the S&W model 57 w/6" barrel in nickel and the model 58 w/4" barrel in nickel also. A soon to own snubnose in 41mag and the m57 w/8 3/8" barrel would round out my collection os the S&W 41mags. Then i need one single action ruger in 41mag, then i'm off to the S&W model 29's to get them.

Or you maybe right i could purchase another brand new S&W model 57 in 41mag and have the longer barrel installed. Thats another option i could look into. Bill

Why a new one?

I see original 8 3/8 Model 57s all the time. Most in near perfect condtion. Better fit/finish , real forged internals , not MIM , no lock . Most sell for less than what a new or semi-custom made one would. Usually around $600 w/o case - $750 with. Just bought one myself last month

I don't see any used S&W here at all lately and forget about seeing any older N frames too. My local dealer has most of the S&W 41mags for $699 right now. I was going to purchase a new springfield armory 1911 loaded when i spotted the S&W 41mags for $699 in "nickel" finish. Right now with the nickel finish being rare with some manufacturers dropping it from there line up i figure to get the smiths now rather than wait. I need to look closer but i think my dealer doesn't have any 8 3/8" barreled smiths. Down the road i also want a smith 29 in 44mag w/8 3/8" barrel too. Heck i want to collect all the S&W revolvers anyhoo since Colt and Ruger really have nothing to offer lately to me anyway. They seem to discontinue more on a regular basis now rather than weather the storm of the slow times. And I have no clue were the wheel gun market is going but it doesn't look good. I just don't see the wheel guns we once did except for the smiths. I think that S&W has the nitch in the wheel gun market right now and i hope they stay this way. Bill
