Can anyone help me ascertain what year my 586 was made It came with rubber grips. Is it possible to get wooden grips that are of the same vintage to make the gun original? Thanks for the help!
Just go on the S&W site and check out the grips in the store. You need to order K/L frame grips. Can't really date your revolver without a serial number. All I can tell you with what we have is that the 586-6 change dates to 1997. Yours is somewhere between there and 1999 when the 586 model was discontinued.
