S&W model 5906 9x19

I expect you will enjoy it as a fine range gun designed for LEO use. I Like them:

Yes, I enjoy it like all my other guns.

I went today to the range. I fired 100 rounds, 50 self loaded and 50 Maxx Tech.
A couple of years ago I bought a cheap Maxx Tech 9mm cartridge. Cartridges didn't work in the winter on my Glock G17 or my friends S&W SD9. My UZI eats them, it's a beast and eats all.
5906 worked on them, just only one malfunction.

Your 5906, and the 3rd. Generation S&Ws in general, are very reliable and robust pistols. I've owned a number of them, and still have a couple 5906s. Hope Wolff can help you out with recoil springs..

I have a 5906 which I bought new. I love it. It is a workhorse. No issues ever. It is a bit on the heavy side but that is far from a deal breaker. I have used it while taking tactical classes.... no problem. It finds its way to the range most every time I go. Enjoy it. I believe it will serve you well.
Regards.

My first 9mm pistol was Argentinian FM HP/P90, it was real steel frame pistol, It was early 1990's. Then I have only Glock pistols and a few years one Norinco 1911 .45 ACP.
This is my first semiauto S&W and first steel frame pistol for meny years. Mayby I try use it in some IDPA event.
I collect S&W revolvers and i want a few S&W steel frame semiautos also. S&W tupperwares is not intresting for me.
Glock is my tupperware for range, collecting and duty.

I didnt realize that word for plastic pistols was internationally known and used! :) Thanks for the smile.

We also sometimes call rubber handgun grips "Goodyears" after the tire maker. I wonder if that is also used worldwide or is US specific.

I have a 5906 and also a M&P9 2.0. It's hard for me not to like a plastic pistol that's as accurate and reliable as my M&P 9.

I like all of my S&W revolvers and Glock pistols, but now I have to familiar my new S&W 5906 and S&W 2206 pistols.

S&W is The Revolver!

Now I have to figure out if the S&W 3rd gen would be better for range shooting than the Tupperware Glocks.
I have to visit the track many times.
S&W 5906 and Glock 17 is IDPA SSP, maybe someday I'll know which is better for me.

S&W 2206 is only for fun!!!

Serial numberis VZC39xx. I can't find the serial number in the Standard Catalog?

What might be the year of manufacture?

Most likely 1995 or 1996 but you can email [email protected] Monday thru Friday and they can give you date of manufacture - you may only get year, but if you are really lucky you may get month and day. And if you ask for the 6 digit Product Code, sometimes you can get that too.

Finland can buy 62 F-35 fighters, various missiles and other military weapons from the US, but I can't buy one recoil spring.
US export regulations are sick?

Is it possible for someone to send me a spring in a letter? Does it break the law in the US?

Maybe I have to shoot only my Glock pistols?

I assume you have tried

Shop Shooting, Hunting, & Outdoor Products | MidwayUSA
Gun Parts & Firearm Accessories | Numrich Gun Parts
Brownells - Firearms, Reloading Supplies, Gunsmithing Tools, Gun Parts and Accessories
https://www.gunsprings.com/
Over here, you can also get many maintenance and replacement parts directly from Smith & Wesson [email protected]

(depending on who you get at SW)

and maybe eBay - I have seen recoil springs there

As to an individual shipping to you - that might be considered a violation of ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) - if so, technically it can probably be done but may require a License which would be next to impossible for an individual to obtain.
Good Luck, Ed

Keep looking = like an increasing amount of 3rd Generation accessories (and like diamonds) the people who have them in supply want you to think they are rarer than they really are. Half the fun is in the hunt. They are out there.
