S&W Model 63 .22LR

MAY purchase this revolver soon for outdoor plinking and indoor target practice. Is anyone aware of ANY problems of any kind with this gun? Please be brutally honest and nit pickey. 2nd choice is a model 617 4" barrel only because it is much heavier than the model 63. I shoot my wife's model 642 AirWeight some times. I have friends with a Ruger GP100 who want me to consider it too. Thanks very much in advance to all who respond.

I had to send my 63 back and have the barrel replaced when new, it had a bad cut in the rifling causing lead build 1/4" from the forcing cone, after a few shots sparks would fly. S&W service was great though.

The 63 is a great little gun for pinking and woods carry, but I personally don't like fiber front sights, black iron or dot for me.

My 617 10 shots are my most used revolvers for speed steel competition, SCSA and local bowling pin matches (DA only). The 4" has the best balance.

I had an SP101 8 shot but I didn't like the frame size and trigger, sold it.

My LCR .22 is a light gun and surprisingly easy to shoot.

My Ruger GP100 10 shot is now a good shooter and also going to be used for speed steel but it took a bit of work to get it smoothed out. It also has a longer trigger pull than S&W's.

Anyone have a Charter Pathfinder .22? The 4” model looks pretty fun.
