S&W model 63 question

Yes, or gallery shorts, or .22 long. Just no .22 mag or .22 WRF, neither of which should chamber.
Advantage of a revolver over a semi..

Added: The dreaded "ring" buildup in the chamber when shorts are used in long rifle, or .38 in .357, is composed of carbon and lead, and does not affect the underlying steel. It is easily removed by cleaning with a copper solvent bore cleaner and a Brownells "tornado" chamber brush. With Hoppes #9 and a nylon brush, you'll be at it all day. If not removed, the build up can cause chambering difficulties.
I have fired close to 100,000 .38s in 3 .357s, and the chambers look new, so it is really no big deal.

Yes, you can shoot shorts, but extensive use of them will build
up a "ring" in chambers. If you shot a few make sure you clean
& brush chambers well. I have a couple 63s, the only SS S&Ws
I have, have never shot shorts in them. I have shot shorts in
34s & 17s, but not many. I don't know if SS is more affected by
the ringing than steel.

Model 63's are nice. Hard to find and bring a premium price. I found a set of nos j frame square butt target grips on eBay for mine. Target grips help if you have bigger hands. Good purchase.

I have a model 63 no dash, and shot many Shorts through it. I no longer shoot shorts as they are much more expensive than long rifle, today. The accuracy is as good today as it was before shooting shorts through it.
I used Chore Boy copper strips wrapped around a well worn .22 nylon bore brush to clean what little residue the shorts left in the chambers.
