I bought my brother a new Model 34 for $125 in the 70's. I always regretted it as he let it rust from neglect. Within the last three months, I found at a LGS another 4" (no box, no papers, no tools) in excellent condition with horrible custom grips, which I replaced with stock round-butt magnas.
I'm considering a Model 63 SS used with some holster wear and some scratches and some tarnishing on the trigger guard and some wear underneath the muzzle. The price with transfer fee's is between $7-800. I would like to keep the 34 pristine and carry the 63. Should I try to polish the 63 or send it to S&W for a refinish? How much would this cost?
