Looking down on my new Model 637, problem is obvious...

Does S&W even perform any QC checks on the fit and finish of these guns?

I'm not sure what's off. Is the barrel not clocked properly, are the chamfers on the sides of the top strap cut unevenly or is the sight groove off center? You photo appears to be looking straight down and the left side chamfer looks much deeper than the right.

Does it shoot to point of aim?

Its the trench along the top is way off... its too far to the right side of the gun, not even down the center.

Sight alignment is nearly impossible as the front blade is almost half way out of the rear notch (way to the left) to achieve hits.

Contact S&W and they'll make it right. Here's a link to get a prepaid shipping label: Warranty Repair Shipping Form - Smith & Wesson

Send it back and they'll replace it with a new one . They replaced a 617 for me for the exact same thing .

Just about every time I shoot something new I'm 2 inches to the left of X so with that one I wouldn't have to make a sight correction LOL!
Just checked my 438 and I think my eyes were playing tricks on me and thought it was off very slightly to the right but its okay and any way it shoots very accurate from 5 to 15 ft as its intended use.
