I've always thought this revolver is perfect for my hands. This particular piece started life as a Tennessee Department of Corrections issue firearm for a prison guard. The revolver was refurbished and bead-blasted before it was sold as surplus. Since the gun is not in original condition, it was relatively inexpensive when I purchased it in 2011; just over $300. Since there is no collector value, I have used it as a range bag revolver and sometimes put it in a Hornady Rapid Safe on my nightstand. I have shot thousands of .38 Spl in this gun including +P loadings (the Federal rounds pictured). I have only fired a dozen or so full power .357 Magnums in it, quickly deciding that the magnums just yield too much muzzle blast and recoil. A steady diet of .357 is probably not good for a K-frame revolver. It's a great firearm which I will never sell. Thanks for looking.

That's a very nice revolver! I do love a good 3 inch 65. Mine is a 65-3. It was a wreck when I bought it back in the nineties. I had S&W rebuild it and refinish it. It is DAO now and a great shooter. It gets the nod for CCW often.

A gun for the cognoscenti. Rarer than the analog 2.5", and more... elegant. Not to mention they just balance and point better, slightly longer sight radius (not that either are target pistols), and - my favorite - the longer ejector rod kicks empties out rather than just suggesting they leave.

Mine was cosmetically worn when I got it. Sent to S&W for "Combat Revolver Package" which I highly recommend. Trigger job, trigger stop, bead blast, chamfer cylinder charge holes. A bargain then and still is at $275. I later had the hammer, trigger and screw heads polished. Also had a red ramp sight installed.

I purchased this one new from a local Police Supply house in the Dallas area.

I purchased the holster, also new.

It's a -2. So, you know it's been with me a while.

I used it primarily when I was out in plain clothes serving warrants for the department.

Hence the scuffing and blemishes all over the holster and the gun. Ha.

Some people...

Anyway, it will stay with me a bit longer.

enjoy,
