What would be a fair price to pay for a model 65 round butt 3 inch barrel without box and paperwork ?, this pistol in as mint as you will find .

3" magnums are getting real hard to find. If it's mint -- I can see sellers asking for $525 to $575 and getting it.

I paid $400 for an OK condition cop trade-in last Summer. It cleaned up real well and I'm happy with it.

on the money

He is asking $500 and wont budge a dollar, I guess i'll pay the price as I dont beleive this pistol has been fired.

Yep $500 plus seems to be in the realm now for these. Mine cost $475 at a LGS, with box and soft case. It needed a lot of TLC, however.
Still, I'm pleased with the gun:

The last M65 3", no box or papers, that I picked up was from an individual for $420, which included an almost full box of .357! When I told him he should have been shooting .38s for practice, he had an ah-ha moment but let me have it for the agreed upon price. I paid $597, out the door for an LE trade-in with original box and papers from one of our LGS.

PICKED it up today 65-3

I went today and picked the model 65-3 up today , worked on him for about 2 hours, held solid at $500. THE SERIAL # IS AFU27XX , can someone tell me the date of mfg. how about some feedback on the purchase, thanks Geraldo

65-3 3"

Sold a 95% 3 months ago, no box.......

$600.

Thought long and hard about letting it go fo that but I have a 65-5 that slid into her place.

I just put her up for sale, found the right buyer.

I just put this one on layaway at my local gun shop, it was priced $385 with no box/paperwork. S&W 65-2 with a 3" barrel...It's got the original owners (I'm guessing) name engraved on it which I wasn't too keen on. But when I pulled the trigger and noticed how smooth it was I told them I'll take it. Ser # ID678xx dates it to 79-80 I believe.

You did OK on the price. The gun looks like new. I just picked up this 65-3 for $450 OTD.

CIsland, you missed this one!
The right thing usually comes, but not when we want it! There are good deals on many good guns. Be ready to pounce on them. I bought my nice 65-3 last year for $371 on GB. The current owner made it better yet! I wouldn't turn down another at the right price. Good luck on your hunt! Bob

Gunsamerica has one for $450, but once you pay for the shipping and FFL fees it would be over $500.
Congrats on your new revolver.
