Hi,

Looking on the web to a site of a gunshop, I noticed a S&W 650 .22 Magnum, with papers in the original box, and ... with its second cylinder in .22LR. It did not take me a minute to fall in love with this nice little gun. Asking price was 1.000 € (roughly about 1.050 $), and I made an offer at 850 plus shiping and transaction expenses. The owner accepted my offer and now I'll start the 3 or 4 months paperwork to collect it.

Seen this model is extremely rare in Europe (especially with both cylinders), I guess I made a good deal. I know this is not a gun for competition, but I intend it for pure fun shooting, and I admit, just to call it mine.

Did I made a good deal : it seems to be in very good shape ? Can you tell me more about this particular model ? Does it confirm to be fun to shoot ?

One more request : the serial number starts with ACV08xx. Can one of you date it for me ?

I am posting a picture too, so you can enjoy it too.

Great snag. Do you have a pic of the box label?

Here are the product codes for the 650. I had to go back in time and retrieve the codes.
I have one with both cylinders but apparently the 22lr cylinder was fitted after it left the factory. Product code on my box is 103802.

650 103801 mag & lr cylinder
650 103802 mag cylinder only

Thanks for your responses :)

In fact, I do not care for the price paid, as many say : if you really like something, you forget about the price quickly. But nevertheless, I feel great knowing I made a fair deal.

I have no pictures of the box, which is still at the shop.

Any idea about the shipping date of ACV08xx ?

If you have the original box with end label, you have the date the gun was ready to ship under the "Special Order Code":

First number - the last digit of the year (1980 decade; e.g., 6 for 1986)
Last three numbers - the numeric day of that year (001 for January 1, 365 for December 31).

Nice find, enjoy!

That is a great find....and a GREAT price... I have not seen one here in the USA for under $1100 if it had the extra cylinder which is rare to find.

I have had two over the years...great "little" guns with a lot of bark...

Great deal! The frame size with the three inch barrel would have been the ideal revolver platform for the .327 caliber family of cartridges. Enjoy your purchase!

Thanks for your responses :)

Surfing on the web, I found this article :

and read that only less than 100 S&W 650 were shipped originally with the second cylinder  . Do I read this well ?

If so, I would not only be blessed with one of my graal guns, but I would be very lucky to have found one, in the box, with dual cylindres, in very good shape. I have a 547, 3-inch, which was another graal gun for me, but more than 10.000 were made, so that's not so exceptionnal (and good for me).

Please pinch me, to be sure I am awake :)

I paid $750 last year for mine.

But no box, and no 22lr cylinder.

I read somewhere that the 650 came with a coupon offering a 22LR cylinder as an extra cost option after the purchase.

Presumably, you had to send the gun back to the factory to have the 22LR cylinder fitted.

I wonder how many 650's of any kind were made.

Not many, I suspect, as they are hard to find.

You did really well, with your purchase, in my opinion.
