I just received a S&W M.66-7. It has what I'm calling a "safety lock". It's the first gun I've owned with such a devise. My problem is that there is no key for the lock. I'm wondering what it will take to get one. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance!

If you're talking about the internal lock, just above the cylinder latch, maybe the gun shop where you made the purchase has one laying around. Aside from that contact S&W directly, I'm sure they will send you a key.

A 66-7? I didn't know the K-frame .357's were made into the "IL" era past 2002, or do you mean the cable-trigger lock?

Have you checked under the foam padding on the upper portion of the box? There should be two keys in a tiny zip lock bag. It is easy for the bag to stick to the glue that keeps the foam from falling out.

If they aren't found there, I'm sure a call to S&W will yield a set of keys very quickly via overnight express, S&W wouldn't want a customer to be without the means to "lock" their revolver:p

Even with an IL, there's no way I would pass up a 66 for an honest price. For a $25 investment and 20 minutes of my time that lock would dissapear real fast.

Thanks for the info. I call customer service, talked to a really nice woman named Pat. In two minutes, she found a couple of keys and sent them to me. No charge! A very pleasent experience!

Most everyone here who has had need to call has had a pleasant experience with S&W Customer Service. They're a good group.
