S&W Model 916 Shotgun Information

I have a 916 barrel that has been cut off to 20". I would have to look at
it but I think it's just threaded like it came out of a solid frame model. It
came in misc gun stuff I bought at a sale. I think I have forearm and maybe running gears. If I do they are in a mess of parts that aren't IDed.
There were bolts from rifles and shotguns that I have no idea what they are. They have to be off the wall stuff other than major brands or I would
know what they are.

I've had a 916 since the late '70's. I believe I paid around $100 for it. Nothing fancy, but I found I could shoot it pretty well. It too had a modified 28" barrel and I used it as a slug gun to take a number of deer over the years. Not too long ago I found a 24" slug barrel for it, and it's still my go-to timber gun.

I was the owner of a 916 Eastfield model full choke, vent rib model. Bought it for duck hunting in 1970. Remember paying $135 for it new.

Used it for a few years and had no complaints. It worked well for what I wanted it for and I was pleased.

About 2007 I decided to sell it as I moved on to centerfire rifles. The gun was in great shape but I was shocked to find the value at $135.

Bottom line, it never let me down on all the hunts I took it on.

I've got a 916A. My dad carried it as his duty shotgun until they were issued 870s in the '80s. I learned to hunt with it & when I moved out he gave it to me & it became my home defense gun & deer hunting gun. 30 years later I still hunt with it. I've never had any problems with it. My only complaint is the single action bar.

I bought a Smith & Wesson riot style shotgun from an acquaintance when I ran into him at a gun show last year. I only vaguely remember seeing S&W shotguns in the late 70s or early 80s, the price was good, and I had some cash in my pocket. It seemed like a neat collectible. Went into the safe and that was it.

I'm a new member and saw this thread so I decided to check it, hoping it was the respected S&W Model 3000. Nope, it's a Model 916 Eastfield, no suffix. I should be disappointed based on the comments in this thread, but I do tend to take anecdotes as anecdotes. So I guess I'll take it out and shoot it. Fingers crossed. :)
