I recently picked up a Model 25, 4 screw frame that came with the optional muzzle brake. I've only seen a few of these things and I'm wondering if they have any value. It looks like it was never installed on my gun and the factory letter says it did not show on the invoice. I posted pics of the gun recently, without the brake showing. Pictured here before wiping old oil off the brake. Are they worth anything?

If/when a lunatic fringe collector (such as I was) comes along, and doesn't have one, price will be of no moment.

Now if a serious, knowledgeable shooter comes along, it'll be good for a laugh.

Ralph Tremaine

I should add price will be of no moment IF it hasn't been used more than just a little bit. Any significant usage will be documented by the missing anodizing----mute testimony to the effect of the muzzle blast.

They are not often encountered, I believe $100 may be a bit low for a Model of 1955 muzzle brake with no wear on it. The only caveat is these brakes are a very snug fit it can leave a mark on your guns barrel or muzzle. I only keep mine for show & display. The only muzzle brake that stays fixed is on my model 41 but that one takes a straight head screw to stay fixed.
