Since posting pictures of my 627 PC Snubby with the new S&W Wood Finger Grips last month there has been a lot of interest in these grips. Been getting PMs & Questions a lot. Below are the pictures. The particular grips are S&W & have Product Code Number: 414170000. They run $48.00 plus shipping. I don't know who makes these for S&W, but they resemble Nill Grips. The grips are not shown on the S&W Web-Site, but you can get them by calling S&W Sales/Customer Service. Takes about a week to get them. I spoke with S&W last week & they told me there has been a "run on these grips". For the guys/gals that have the L-Frame guns, these grips fit fine also on them. I put a set on my 686-4 Snubby pictured below also. You do need a slight bit of sanding on the top two rear tabs so they don't stick out the back. They feel real comfortable. Theres plenty of additional pics in my Photo Album under "Pictures On The Wall" in the above "Pictures & Albums" section.

I'm confused? Your title says N-frame grips on an L frame. I thought K and L frames carried the same size grips. I thought N frames were larger and so forth.

Read the fine print, son. They don't fit without some work.
Yes, K/L are the same, N is bigger, hence the fitting process.

PS
EXFBI, you really do have a gift for photography, its more than equipment, although I suspect you have good stuff, just like you have good guns. But you know how to make it work, use the light, position the subject, etc.
Again, nice job.
And, those finger grooves are hardly noticable, I bet. Right?

Does anyone know if they offer these for other frame sizes? Do they have a similar grip for square butt frames?

Yes K & L Frame grips are the same size, but with a slight sanding these N-Frames will easily fit the L-Frame guns. Inside the grips there are 2 pins which match up for a perfect smooth joint all the way around the grips. The back 2 rear top tabs stick out about an 1/8th inch. Little sanding will take care of that. The grips appear to be pretty good quality as the wood stain - whatever they use - goes throughout the grips & isn't surface only. They are real good feeling. Like them better than the combat finger groove ones. I did ask S&W about the same grips for either J-Frame and L-Frame. They only have these in this size.

A friend of mine was shooting IDPA revolver and made similarly shaped grips for his 4 inch 625. Very flat and thin but without the finger grooves on the front strap. While they looked a little strange they felt and pointed very well. His design was one piece and fully covered the bottom of the grip frame. They attached and slipped on and off just like Hogues. Very interesting design.

Smee78,

There is a decent thickness to them. I've had some Hogue wood grips in the past & don't believe they are as thin as the ones i had. They are not as thick as the S&W Combat Finger Groove ones. They just seem to fit my paws. Heres a pic of the 686-4 & the 627 PC side-by-side. Maybe this will help somewhat.

Carl,
Thanks for the pic, they look great. I may have to pick up a pair.

I use K & L frame round butt Pachmayr Gripper's on my round butt N frames, 629 and 327 Night Guard. They seem to fit just fine.

I think these are made by Eagle, because they have that same "N" carved out on the inside of the grips as on a pair of Secret Service grips I have. Bought two pairs of these shortly after your first pictures of your UDR. Can't believe they charged me tax, even though I live in California! Still a good deal on some nice grips, they fit pretty good and feel comfortable. They'll stay on my UDR until my Nills come in from Germany:-)

Thank you very much for sharing those great pictures and those i:)nfos with us!!

And I just wonder how they could look on a 4" model 29 of mine...

Will hurry to drop a line to Smith and Wesson!!

S&W was using grips made by Altamont which is located in Southern IL. Not sure if these are from that company. I just checked their website, and these are not shown.

These grips look like Nill grips, the stippling and the detail seems to be a dead give away.....I might be wrong though. But the price is awful cheap for Nills.....
