Hi There,

I apologize for hogging the form but I need the help of someone
that has a lot of knowledge of the Second Model Russian sold on
the commercial market. In particular, there is a number stamped
on the barrel, cylinder and latch that match. It is a 4 digit number
which could be an "assembly" number (it doesn't match the
serial number in any way), but there isn't any fitting number on
the frame.

The serial number is in the correct range for domestically sold
Russian 2nd Model and the legend on the barrel is correct with
the "Russian Model" at the end. My concern is how can I tell if
this is all original?

Cheers!

Hi There,

Pictures would help.

I was hesitant to post pics because I was afraid someone here would
swoop in and grab it but I have decided not to pursue this one any-
more. So, if anyone else wants it, they are free to go after it.

Cheers!
Webb

I trust that you asked the seller to check under the grips (stocks) for the assembly number? The revolver "looks" correct from the finish standpoint of wear, marks of use, holster wear and freshness of the finish. It's a nice-looking revolver.

Yes, I did ask and the seller eventually was accommodating. No,
there wasn't any fitting number. The right grip panel does have
the correct serial number. The extractor gear latch doesn't look
correct and that was the deciding factor that decided me to pass.

Cheers!

I see the gunsmith replacement for the extractor control.
You can get a much better one for the same $
