Start with the Performance Center Model 19 Carry Comp 3".

Remove the compensator and move the sight to the where it belongs, at the end of the barrel. Compensators do not belong on carry guns.

Remove the lock, it also does not belong on a serious carry gun. S&W knows this as evidenced by the several J-frames without an internal lock.

I'm with you on the lock discussion, but the compensator can be used without issue to the user, just cant it a bit and any blast will miss the shooter, while the bullet heads towards the shootee....

I personally like the overall package of the M19 K-Comp (an original one without the added feature called the lock)

The same goes for the M66 F-Comp....

Picked up a 19-7 K comp years ago,
Neat gun but no fan of the power port either.
At least with Magnaport type porting you get the extra 1/2 of barrel rifling and sight radius.
Only other gripe is the tiny weak front site lamp, would be way better with a patridge with gold bead or a fiber optic,
Better yet the quick change IFS system !

Btw upgraded mine with a set of finger groove SW combats.

What you seek exists, at least in stainless. They're just hard to find.

Myself, I'd love to see a 3in K frame with a scandium frame, steel cylinder, no lock and a nice set of sights. Maybe lipseys will come through.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. It seems that comps are becoming more and more popular on carry guns as well as competition guns and they work just fine. One of my carry guns is the Springfield 365 X-Macro with a comp on it. I happen to love that gun and carry it all the time. I have shot it in close retention drills, over and over again with no issues. The comp does help control recoil. I have shot several comps now and I am becoming a fan.

Well like we talked before, wish I had one of the 3" barrels. I dont even want the magnaporting on the LH 19-7. BUT I would take one...

Hey Bob,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :) :)

That M19-7 is probably the scarcest of the 3" Performance Center K frames....

I recall seeing a factory letter on one that said 55 units were made.

1) I hate cleaning compensators. 2) Shooting magnums at night from a short barrel ruins your night vision. 3) If you must, please use a pinned front sight, not a Millett.

I’ve owned a 586 and a 686 L Comp.

I still have this one.
