The S&W is more commonly known as a 22/32 Heavy Frame Target. It is on the "I" Frame, the Mod 35 is it's successor and made on the "J" Frame. These are really great little guns, and much fun to shoot.

Just FYI: The Model of 1953 22/32 Target (pre model 35) replaced the 22/32 (Heavy Frame) Target and was still made on the I frame, specifically the New I frame with larger trigger guard and 1/8" longer grip frame. It was named the Model 35 in mid 1957. The first 22/32 J frame (elongated frame and cyl window) wasn't introduced until the end of 1960 and was the Model 35-1.
