seems like a lot of these are being sent back for ejector repairs. kind of depressing.

what is the turnaround time for repairs?

If it makes you feel any better I have one thats never been back for repairs and runs like a little clock.

I've got 1500 rounds through mine without a hitch, bought a new mag Saturday and had a failure to feed today sticking strait up in the mag but just that one fired 100 more and no problems

Mine is running flawless right out of the box !!!!

Same here. About 500 rounds downrange so far and about 6 FTF using Rem GB ammo. Won't use that any more!

Federal bulk and Winchester Power Point ammo work well and I have an adequate supply of each. Looking forward to receiving a couple more magazines just before Christmas . . . :)

that's great to hear guys. i've yet to fire my new baby. i'm just wondering if there is a problem how quickly smith gets the guns fixed and home.

expect the best but prepare for the worst.

Door to door in exactly one week. Friday-Friday. Got two free mags when returned. Sent in Fedex ground, sent back Fedex overnight.

Took about a week to get the shipping lable via snail mail. I heard you can get them to email a shipping label which is much faster.

Mine was sent in for FTE's/missing extractor. Works great now!

can you send it in yourself or does it need to go through a FFL?

S&W sends the customer a shipping label. Customer puts label on box and takes to FedEx shipping location. No FFL needed on repairs. Gun comes right back to customer when repaired.

Use of a FFL is only needed for an interstate transfer -- change of ownership between different states. No interstate transfer takes place sending your firearm to the manufacturer (or gunsmith) for repair.

One thing that will make your life a lot easier: Don't try to find a fed ex hub that will take your rifle. Call fed ex and they will come to your front door and pick it up. In Ohio I would have had to drive 45 min just to drop it off- let fed ex earn their money!!!

is it wrong to kind of 'want' something to break, just for the free mags?! ;)

Read on one of the forums a customer got no free mags upon the return of his repaired 15-22. Maybe Smith ran out of them, or quit giving them out.

What I am trying to say here is that there is no guarantee you will get mags on return of your 15-22.

I appreciate smith's customer service. I will tell you if my rifle comes back from this repair w/ out the magazines that other customers got I will be calling Smith and demand I receive these also. Even if they have to backorder. You can't give these out to some and not others. It has been a hassle to all of us that have had problems.

Smith's Customer Service has been really great! The only reason you wouldn't get any mags would be because they out and they are on back order. They want to get the gun back to you quickly rather than wait on a shipment of mags.

If your concerned I'd give them a call and let them know what you want.

Thanks n3cal, I'll wait till it comes back before I call. Trust me, If their not in there, I'll be concerned and I'll be telling them what I want. I don't mind backorder as long as i get them.

I picked up 2 of these rifles at Cabela's about a month ago and fired them for the first time today. I couldn't wait until Christmas so we had a slightly early Christmas gift. Hey, the wife got a puppy so I had to get out a toy for me.

Anyway, my gun which has a serial number in the DTH1XXX range was flawless. Shot roughly 450 rounds of CCI Blazer through it with only one failure to feed. Winchester Super X also shot well (shot about 20). I'm assuming the failure to feed was the way the magazine was loaded.

The other rifle with a serial # in the DTH2XXX range was able to fire about 6 times before if would catch each shell either in the ejection port or jammed inside. It was obvious before the gun was fired it would have this problem as the ejector was right against the side when looking at it through the magazine cavity. Only shot about 20 shells through the gun.

Note that the sights were dead on out of the box for rifle 2XXX and required no adjustment. Rifle 1XXX wast 5-6 clicks low and 2 clicks left of where it should have been. Interesting that the sight adjustments are way different for the two rifles.

Very nice and fun guns. Unfortunately the one has to be sent back. I'm hoping to get it back soon and that they are still offering the 2 free magazines for the trouble.

Look forward to shooting these a lot.

Tweak the ejector yourself. The extractor problem seems to be the worst issue with these. Mine shed the extractor while shooting, made the trip to S&W, and came back yesterday. With an extractor.
