S&W revolver 45 ACP question

If you don't mind the price tag, I have a model 325 Thunder Ranch. Everyone who has shot it has fallen in love with it. Trigger pull is light and it is very accurate.

I have a 6 1/2 inch 25-2 and a thunder ranch. I have been shooting the thunder ranch as of late. The 25-2 has been my longtime bullseye gun.

I have two 625's (a 625-6 with 5" barrel and no lock and a 625-8 JM Special with 4" barrel and a lock) and shoot them both a good deal. I have old man's vision problems and have red dots on mine. They are the proverbial tack drivers:

This is the 5" Model of 1989.

I have never ran into anyone who has shot a 25 who didnt have good things to say about them. I used to shoot NRA action shooting with a 25-2 from Jovinos that I put a 6" Shilen barrel with an internal comp in and used full moon clips with chamfered chambers with a Bomar rib and bobbed hammer and you could compete with the 45 autos you might not win but you could be competitive. As they used to say you cant miss fast enough to win.

This is a 625-4 model of 1989. Any that say model of 1989 on the barrel should be fine. Mine is a 5 inch, but I wouldn't mind finding a 4 inch one day:

Love my 25-2 6 1/2 in. barrel, would like to find a 4" as well. Everything good about them has already been said!! Get one or more you will not regret it!

Did someone say 4"? Just got this yesterday, a leftover from a S&W day event, it's a 4" 625 JM(625-8). It actually does NOT have MIM hammer & trigger. Brand new gun priced at $699 as a factory demo, just couldn't resist. All I had to do was crank the sight over to the left, as the rear blade was way to the right. I wasn't sure about the Miculek grps, but I love how they feel. Only minus is the lock, which I will be ignoring. Here's some quick pics:

I want to thank all of you who provided me with information about the 25-2. You gave me enough information to buy a 25-2 with 6.5 inch barrel off of a forum member yesterday. I'm on my way to the bank to get a Certified Check and get it off to him with a copy of my dealers FFL. Sometime next week the gun ought to be here.

Welcome to the club. If yours shoots as well as mine, you will be a VERY happy camper!

I'm a happy camper for sure as I took the 25-2 to the range today. This whole moon clip thing is new to me and I was lucky the forum memeber I bought it from sent me 6 clips. What I didn't realize that I needed a tool to take the spent cases out of the moon clips. I shot 36 rounds and love the gun. It's shooting about 1.5 inches high at 7 yards with the reloads I was shooting today. But they cut one big hole in the target and that's a good thing.

I'm a poor old retired Stunt Man and can not afford those high dollar revolvers. I have a S&W 1937 Brazilian Contract .45. They were made to shoot the 1911 45 auto. I needed the "Moon Clips" but I hate them so I use the 45 Auto Rim cases. I love it, and it is very accurate. Cost????? $325.

You can make a demooner tool from a short (6" or so)lenght of 1/2" copper tubing. Do a search on moon tools and you'll see all sorts of commercial stuff as well as DIY.

The other possibility is to use RIMZ polymer clips with .45 ACP. No tools required and they work VERY well.

All of them are nice, but if you want to shoot in IDPA matches, you will need the 4 inch barrel. I just picked up a Miculek last week - it will be at the range later today for the first time. I can't wait!
