S&W Riding Vest - Is It Real?

A friend of mine wants to sell, and I want to buy this Smith and Wesson leather riding vest. Trouble is I can't find anything online to help determine a value. Part of me wants to say it is counterfeit, but the quality if very good. The logo is 'pressed' into the leather (not sure if pressed is the correct word). Stitching is top not and the leather is of very good grade. Has anyone seen a vest like this and does anyone have any ideal of a value?

These vests were listed in the S&W accessory catalogs of the 1980s, so the item is legit. Ed.
