S&W says they don't know how many Mod. 915s they made.

This has turned into one of the silliest posts ever put on this forum.

No one cares how many Value Line 3rd Gen guns were made. With the exception of the 457 and CS guns, they were all economy versions of the real 3rd Gen guns.

It's certainly not worth insulting and calling into question the integrity of one of the most informed and informative members of the forum.

Really, get a life.

Not an "apologist" for S&W, or any of the other gun companies for which I've received armorer training, support/repair their guns and may have often called to ask questions.

Don't work for S&W nor are paid by them. (Didn't take a job with them when there was an opportunity, and even if it were to come around again, I'm uninterested in a full-time job in my retirement involving constant travel.)

I often offer in my posts that I'm not officially connected to the company, nor am I a licensed gunsmith or anything resembling an "expert". Just an armorer who has gone through a bunch of their classes, supported a bunch of their guns as a working armorer, and who owns a fair number of them.

Feel free to ignore my posts if you're looking for someone who claims to be able to pull back the green curtain and tell tales out of school. ;) Now you know.

Didn't take offense, either.

Fastbolt,

Holy cow! Are you sure your name isn't Fastalker?

I see you had the nerve to actually DELETE SOME OF THE WORDS IN MY POST. And the words were crucial.

You know what I'm talking about. It's the part where I quoted you saying that you really don't know what you're talking about.

I'll repost it here to clarify. And also to point out that you deleted some of my post. This was less than honest of you. You should be ashamed.

HERE IS THE ORIGINAL WHICH CONTAINS EVERYTHING YOU DELETED:

DELETED >
I don't claim to have any definitive knowledge about this sort of thing ....

That quote is from your last paragraph.

The rest of your post is sprinkled with a ton of:

"It may ...".

"It might ... ."

"So the question may become ... ."

Please take no offense.

After reading your lengthy post, it's obvious you have a working relationship with some S&W personnel, and some of the people may have become friends.

But you almost sound like a paid, professional apologist for S&W in your post.

But this, from your final words concerning the question, says it all to me:

DELETED >
I don't claim to have any definitive knowledge about this sort of thing ....

I just wish you said this at the beginning of your post instead of in the last paragraph.

It would have saved me a lot of reading. :)

You deleted the part where you said:

I don't claim to have any definitive knowledge about this sort of thing ....

Why did you do that???

Well I sure care how many were made and others here said they care and would like to know too. So you're clearly wrong about that. :)

You sound very, very angry, pal. Lighten up.

Remember now, the thread began with a very simple question.

It's guys like you who sent it of the track and up the dirt road.

And the "integrity" of the member you mentioned should INDEED be called into question.

He altered my post so he wouldn't appear foolish. As a result, he looks even more foolish.

Go ahead, try to deny he altered my post. You'll probably call it "fake news" or something. :)

Why did you do that???

Shortened your reply in that QUOTE function so I could get along to explaining what happened the first time, which you apparently didn't realize.

I didn't delete anything. The forum software apparently does that sort of thing for quotes of other quotes in new quoted reply posts. (Or something to that effect, as I may not be explaining it right.).

You may not understand how the forum software seems to work. I simply QUOTED (meaning I used the QUOTE button function to create a Reply), and the software wouldn't copy your quotes of me made by you in your new post.

Let me illustrate. I'll go back to that post of yours and once again use the QUOTE for reply button, taking me to a reply-to-post screen, and then include everything in that QUOTE function, pasting it here. This is what happens:

That quote is from your last paragraph.

See what happened without ME doing anything to delete anything? The software does it. (This used to puzzle me in this and some other forums, as well, BTW, so don't think you've discovered anything for the first time. :) )

Like I said, I didn't delete anything, let alone to pretend to ignore it. (My answer was actually crafted taking it fully into account, as well.)

So, not only did I not alter your words, I didn't "quote" any of them myself in the manner you did to support your conclusion (opinion) that I don't know what I'm talking about. ;)

BTW, I will directly quote and lift some comments you made in another post to GaryS, to address them:

And the "integrity" of the member you mentioned should INDEED be called into question.

Dude, my "integrity" has been questioned by the best attorneys money can buy at the state and federal level. It's never been found wanting (but to be fair, you can't find something that isn't there). Relax, though, as I've repeatedly said that I'm nobody's expert. Also, it's not like I've never made a mistake. (Just as my wife, kids, grandkids, associates and friends. :D )

He altered my post so he wouldn't appear foolish. As a result, he looks even more foolish.

Nope, as I explained I didn't do anything of the sort, and that it was how the forum's software seems to work. (Don't ask me why, because ... wait for it ... I don't know. ;) ) Also, why would I want or need to make anyone else look foolish?

Go ahead, try to deny he altered my post. You'll probably call it "fake news" or something.

How could that other remember (GaryS) have any way to know how I crafted a post? He has no way to deny what you think I did, even if he suspects I'd not engage in such antics due to my forum conduct over the years of my membership.

So, relax. None of this has been personal (not from my end, at least), nor is there any reason for it to be personal (from either end). I didn't take any of your post content that way. :)

Like many folks in difficult professions, I had to grow quite a thick skin in my former career. I rarely (if ever) take anything personally, even when someone goes to great effort to make it come across that way, and even if they double down on it. Not worth the effort to take offense. :) If you don't take offense, then there isn't any offense.

Please refresh any screen of my last post, as I added a couple comments and made some other changes I thought made it read better and make more sense. :)

I understand the software here well.

You my friend manipulated it to delete those words.

No matter how much you try to obfuscate the truth with yet another lengthy post, complete with your your exploits as a star witness in State and Federal Courts, which has nothing to do with the subject, it just doesn't work.

While fascinating, I've grown weary of reading your bio.

Your next post will probably begin with:

"I was born in 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconson.

My parents were dairy farmers ... ."
