Cases

The guns are easy to find, the hard item to find is the cases for the 10 5/8" guns. There were two type made. Here are the cases I have! The gun on the left is an "N" serial prefix and the gun on the right is an "ABC" serial prefix! The one in the middle is a well worn deer killing machine!

Here is a Silhouette you'll probably never find. There were 4 made, I have one, another is in the collection of a fellow SWCA member, the third was cut to 7 1/2" by Hank Williams Jr., and the forth is in the wind(so there is hope for you)!

Don't forget the two variants (at least) of the 29-5 6" AFS. One has export markings, the other, no. Non fluted cylinders. And the 629-? (-2, IIRC) 6" AFS which apparently were all made for export.

Never mind the wood stocks on the export model -5, I did that.

I've got a blue 586 in 6". Won't be home til late tonight to get you more info.

Thanks for the responses guys. The cases are a real eye opener. Never knew they existed. The frosted nickel has not been lettered but I know it came from a Hollywood armory for what thats worth. It does not have the N stamped on the frame or barrel or cylinder. My 29-3 6" appears to be the same configuration as the 29-5 6", but I guess I should add one to the collection just to make sure.

Too bad there are so few of the other ones. I've been told of a 25-5 silhouette
but have'nt confirmed as yet.

Again thanks for the info

I hope you have at least one "working" silhouette revolver that topples steel from time to time! Big fun.

My first 29-3 10 5/8" barreled revolver has had no telling how many thousands of rounds through it in the past 15 years or so. And it shoots better now than ever, IF the trigger puller is doing his job.

Only 100yards for Field Pistol, but it's done standing, and on "1/2 scale" targets.

29-3 #2 has debuted at the Big Bore range, but no photos, yet. ETA: wrong, one bad photo after smacking nine Big Bore Pigs:
