Didn't know where to post this so I'll stick it here. I'm real interested in hearing what everyone has to say about the differences in hammer and trigger action on Smith revolvers over the years.
The 40s, 50s and 60s seem pretty consistent at least until 1965 when the Wesson family sold the business. But what about the 70s, 80s and 90s?
Specifically as it relates to the Model 17. I'm looking at buying a 6" Model 17 to be used as a shooter. I don't really care what it looks like but I want that smooth action found in the 50s and early 60s. All the guns up to and including the early 17-3s have that nice, light feel. Know what I mean?
I have an 18-3 from the late 70s that feels a little heavier. But it's practically unfired so it could loosen up but honestly it's too nice for me to think about shooting it.
Sorry about the long post. Looking forward to reading your replies. Thank you.
