Just to help anyone else out that may run into this issue. I picked up my new, from the factory, Victory yesterday, and right away, before firing it, it became obvious that one of the magazines would not lock the slide back. Long story short, I disassembled the magazine, taking out the little button on the side of the magazine in the process, of course. Once reinstalled correctly, the magazine locked back the slide as it should. That little button was dragging within the channel of the magazine well, right from the start, and all the way up into the magazine well. It seemed to be sticking out of the magazine a little too far. My theory is that there must have been some plastic flashing from the manufacturing process under the button, residing in it's recess on the follower, and when it was disassembled it must have fell out, fixing the issue. So if anyone else has this problem, just try disassembling the mag and putting it back together, and you should be good to go, just inspect that recess for foreign matter. Have fun.

Haven't had that problem. The issue I have is when you pull the slide back to manually eject the bullet, it won't remove it from the chamber. Shoots and cycles fine. Also the extractor work cold, it is only after it heats up that it stops working. I haven't called smith yet. But hopefully it is an easy fix.

I haven't shot mine enough to experience any of those issues yet, but we'll see when the weather is better.

Quickkill730 I might suggest checking your gun for oil when its gets hot as it may be drying out and be causing the ejector to stick a wee bit. Next time it does that just wet your rails down and see what happens.

I'm annoyed by the number of factory defects that owners end up doing quality control for the factory to fix.

No reason to have these issues if S&W had decent in house quality control.

They obviously don't.

If I had a new S&W that had such an issue, I'd bill S&W for my time fixing what should have been caught before it entered the retail stream.

Of course, since I wouldn't buy a current production S&W , I'll never have the opportunity to try to collect.

I had the same problem with my S&W 1911. Took the both mags apart and discovered that the mag that wasn't working had the spring in backwards. Reversed the spring and the slide would lock in place again.

It all comes down to money. Higher QC=higher cost. If you want model 41 quality, you better be ready to pay model 41 prices. As a metalworker, time spent is proportional to tolerances and finishes, and time cost$.
