Found a wooden token and a hat from the now defunct S&W shooting sports center. Used to be able to rent any gun with a box of ammo for 20 bucks. Has to be about 10 years since I was last there.

They used to give those with memberships. If you were a member you could use it for a free gun rental since you didn't need a lane. I have a bunch I never got to use before they closed.

In 2006 we were in Ware for my in-laws/outlaws family reunion. Took a tour of the Springfield factory and tried out the SSC and their 1911's - that and the Springfield Armory tour were the highlights of the trip. When our son was born several months later I bought him that gun online from the Ware Gunshop. He'll get it when he turns 21; he doesn't even know it exists yet :)

Let me know if you ever decide to sell a token; it would make a fun souvenir.

Todd I sent you a wooden token no charge, for your son. I liked the story.

Thank you Revoman

What a great Forum and thoughtful members. That token now resides with the aforementioned 1911. Sorry for the Googled image but it's late and I'm tired. But you get the idea. Funny thing, I didn't see it (108284) on the S&W website so I'm wondering if it's no longer offered. Glad I picked it up when I did. Too bad I have to wait another 12 years to find out how it shoots!

As a father, I think that you would be remiss if you did not test fire the gun before handing it over to your son. What if it doesn't function properly? Might be real hard to get warranty work done in 12 years. ;)
