LOL! Yes, we have lots of gators here in Florida and unfortunately we also have too many invasive boas & pythons that are devastating the Everglades. Unfortunately, shooting gators or boas is not allowed even when hunting or capturing them so most Florida gator hunters use bang sticks to dispatch hooked gators. I understand that in other states, .22 LR or .22 WMR is the standard gator killer.
The good thing is that gators, even the Godzilla sized gators, are generally shy and don't hang around people (unless the idiots are feeding them!). I have heard of a few folks that killed gators with handguns when they attacked their dogs, but I doubt that they were toting around a .500!
