I just saw one of them in a case with all the stuff at a show on Sat . It caught my eye as I went by . BIG BUCKS

Bill, I track these interesting old long guns. Did you happen to get the serial number? It would also be helpful to know the barrel length (16, 18 or 20 inch). Did it have the case and the optional tang sight?

Thanks for any additional info you can add.

EDITED TO ADD: I now have what I need. Thanks all!.

Asking price is yet to be decided. I will be consulting with the LGS owner next Friday and will provide him an opinion on current market value at his request. If he gives me a firm price, I'll post it here and provide contact info. The gun has been refinished, I believe at least twice in it's life based on photos sent to me. Last refinish by the factory, and it's a nice specimen. Tang sight but no case, however. Ed.

I met with the LGS owner. The gun was as I described above. I estimated market value as in the $7500 -$8500 range. LGS said that had an offer of $8000 and would therefore take it. Gun is sold. Serial number was 867. A very nice example, 95% blue with orig. case, sold at Julia's auction last week for $13,000 plus buyer's premium. That gun would have brought $25K 5 yrs. ago. The market has tanked for antiques. Ed.
