I went shooting today with my Model 64 revolver. I fired about 25 rounds of a plus p hollow point I had. I got home and I was checking the single action function of the revolver. I cocked the pistol 4 times and it functioned normally. The next one or two times the hammer was very difficult to fully cock. Any thoughts one what could be causing that?

Thanks

Check that the ejector rod is screwed in all the way (remember--reverse threads). Check under the ejector star to see if there are powder grains trapped under there. Those are the two most likely causes. Other possible causes -- bent ejector rod, sprung crane.

Ok I will check those tonight and report back. Thanks for the tips.

Everything I knew how to check seemed to be ok. I took it to a local smith to get it checked out. I should know in a few days what the problem is if any.
