Good Morning!! Happy New Year!

It's a great day to be alive, matter of fact, any day is a great day to be alive! The MBH is downstairs preparing breakfast, and it sure smells good.

I'm back, I was summoned to the kitchen to help with breakfast. I did a great job on the sausage and eggs. They sure were good with some fig preserves, jalapenos and toast. Then I had a tea cake with coffee before coming back to the computer.

Anyone remember when the year 2,000 rolled around? Folks were crying doomsday about the whole world shutting down, because the computers might not work after the clock struck midnight. I had already downloaded the fixit program for the date on our computer, and since we were doing alright before we had a computer, I figured that we would make it if they did shut down.

But, they didn't and we've made it another 22 years, with the Lord's help. I really enjoy listening to music from youtube, and learning things that are at my finger tips. Sometimes I think I'm crazy, because I catch myself watching videos about quantum physics, engineering, space exploration and related subjects.

Anybody following the James Webb space telescope? Talk about a Rube Goldberg apparatus, with a 10 Billion dollar price tag. I am anxiously awaiting the first photos.

I hope all of you had a great ending to the year 2021, followed by 2022, and whatever it brings. We are just taking it one day, one hour, one heartbeat at a time, counting our blessings, and I hope you are too. Remember the glass is at least half FULL, not the other way.

Enough!!

Going to Worship Service in a little while, and worship the One that made it all possible. Have a great Sabbath, and a great week.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Good Sabbath Leon,

The kids all left for home on Wednesday. We are slowly getting back to normal.

I was thrilled to see Georgia play some good football on Friday night! But, can they handle Alabama? LOL!

The ponds are running over from the recent rains.

I used to be a trim-carpenter (in another lifetime, something like 40 years ago). I volunteered to help a neighbor do some remodeling. Actually, my wife volunteered me.

I got out all my old stuff and was successful. A little worn out from working on the ten-foot ceilings off a short ladder. My eyesight is really too bad for this anymore.

When I started in law enforcement, we all had a trade to help make a living on our off-days. Really, we had to. Times have changed.

Quigley's in rain-mode. He's more accurate than the weather man. So, we expect it to rain all day.

I wish for you all to have a great 2022 and may you be blessed!

Warm and dry in SoFla so I sprinklered the sod at daybreak and nitpicked around before a nice breakfast burrito courtesy of Mrs. Native made with yet some more leftover Christmas ham. Spent too much time at work the last couple days so feet's up for football will be my outlook until it's time for some sirloins on the grill.

Thanks so much for the ongoing Sabbath Rambles and good tidings to you this New Year.

Today is the end of "regular" deer season in the Volunteer state. Another lease mate and I braved the elements in an effort to provide our landlord with some venison, required by the terms of the lease.

When we arrived at the property, it was 57 degrees but, with the cold front pushing through, by 7:30 a.m., it was 47 and still going down. There was no rain showing on the radar but, that did not stop the rain and North wind from falling and blowing.

We had already decided to stay until late morning since the heavy stuff was predicted for 2:00 p.m. I am happy to report that the landlord's venison quota has been met. A 5 pt. buck, which seriously needed to be culled, appeared at 8:15 a.m. just as the rain had turned to a drizzle. He was an answer to a few silent prayers and now resides in the walk in cooler at the processor in Wartrace.

It wasn't the season that I had hoped for but, I enjoyed every day on the lease and in the field. I got to watch two "new" hunters take their first deer and grin like opossums! This is always enjoyable.

We are truly blessed in the Volunteer state and I hope y'all are as well!

It is 32° here and Ruthie is off today. After the ball game we are going to play a (yet to be decided) board game.

Rewind to this morning. At around 0330 we were jolted out of our sleep by a thunderous crash. I thought someone had kicked a window in. I went to DEFCON1. Armed only with my pistola and my Duluth Trading bloomers I crept downstairs thinking what an awesome thing adrenaline is.

Our most psychotic cat had made it to the top of the china cabinet and knocked a tureen down shattering it.

I gave the "all clear" and Ruthie and the boys came down to check it out. As we were all staring at the carnage in silent disbelief Logan looked at me and said: "no soup for you". I was moved.

Happy Sunday all.

Every day is indeed a blessing. Almost all of our snow is gone. Now we are looking at a ton of rain and high winds. A beautiful Sunday. There is joy in the smallest of things. Had a wonderful New Year's feast yesterday with dear friends. Came home with a pound of Prime Rib scraps for Shaggy the wild cat. He is on cloud 9! It will last him through tomorrow, don't want to get him sick. Stray cats are better people than many so called humans. Have a blessed Sunday all. PTL!

Mr. Leon, you've certainly given us a good start to the year.

I certainly remember the approach of Y2K (2000) as they called it then, and all that went on. But as it approached, being in the title insurance business I realized that the banks were still writing 30 year mortgages, so I quit worrying about it.

I had a really nice holiday trip to see my brother and my sister's family but it is always good to be home and sleeping in my own bed. I drove as far as northeast Ohio and I was glad to see that I still have the stamina to make the trip.

Everybody enjoy the day.

Whew! I was following up on the Sunday post, finishing off the required peas and cornbread, with jalapenos. The HOT pepper just about burned my face off. I managed to eat my tea cake before my mouth was nothing but cinders. :-)

Have a blessed day, and watch out for jalapenos!

Leon

Here in Maryland, it's been cloudy and gray for three days, and we're supposed to get snow tomorrow. As always in the mid-Atlantic states, we never quite know what's going to happen weather-wise until it does, so I will believe it when I see it...but as someone who waits all year for winter, when the weatherman even mentions the s-word in passing, I feel like a little kid on Christmas Eve... :)

The photos below are from my condo community...during blizzards of winters past...

Whoops,

It's James Webb, not Watts. :-(

Someone was kind enough to point that out to me. Thanks so much. First mistake I have made in the last minute or so. :-)

Have a blessed day,

Leon
