Good Sabbath Day Ya'll!

Even though it will be a hot and humid Sabbath, it's still gonna be a good one. We are having a Guest Speaker today, looking forward to Worship Service after while.

Our Pastor's wife had gall bladder surgery last Friday and she is still in much pain. I sometimes hear the term "minor surgery" used when someone is going under the knife. I got news for you: There's no such thing as "minor surgery" unless it's happening to someone else.

The tomato crop turned out to be a disaster, after a great start. The plants developed yellow spots on the leaves, and one plant has died, I cut it down and threw it away. The tomatoes are small and not as tasty as usual, but I am grateful for what we have. They sure are good in a homemade biscuit.

My MBH is still struggling with joint pain, please keep her on your prayer list.

I weighed in at 151.0 this morning, with a goal of 150/155#. The fat meter doesn't lie, but sometimes I dread doing my Sunday morning weigh in. I could blame my MBH if I gain weight, since she is a great cook, and I enjoy a good meal.
But can't do that, I have blame the Old Geezer in the mirror.

Anybody like sweet potato cobbler? My Mother made them when I was a kid, sure were good.

Enough! Ya'll keep it between the ditches and spend some time with family, tell them you love them. If they can't get out and visit you, go see them, and even a short visit or phone call (texts don't count) will make their day.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

Joe, if that's a small tomato I'd like to see one of your large ones!
That's a perfect sandwich size right there.
This has been one our best years for them. BLTs and caprice coming out of our ears and over three gallons canned so far with more to go. Sorry yours haven't done so well this year.

Appreciate you taking the time to post, always a good addition to whatever is going on this Sabbath morn.
Tough luck on the maters, guessing the screwy weather throughout the US may contribute, I know the increasing number and variety of insect life here and probably there won't help.
Sincerely hoping the next edition will show much improvement for the Mrs.

Did a laundry load of shirts and skivvies while mixing batches of weed kill and bug spray, then spritzed around the house and yard before the expected rains begin later. Stripped off the Tshirt to lessen the soaking while moving around but still had to work to keep from dripping all over the freshened underwear while folding the stuff on the carport workbench.
Checked my phone app and saw 88F and 68% at 1000, from experience I know the hygrometer must read 8-10% low.
Really do hope to hear better news from your homefront yet can do nothing except wish you and yours well.

Good Sabbath Leon,

Our morning walks have been murderously hot this past week. Of course that's typical for July down here. For some reason it felt just a bit cooler this morning.

We got the truck serviced this week at the dealership. Quigley and I waited in the empty show room. Real nice air conditioning. There were about twelve salespeople all sitting around with nothing to sell. Strange times indeed.

"Your truck's ready, sir!" a nice service guy said as he motioned for me and Quigley to return to the counter to pay the bill. Which we did.

I walked out to the truck and was very disappointed at what I saw. "Come over here!" I raised my voice a little towards the service guy. "Y'all didn't rotate my tires!"

"Says here he did! It's on the ticket! I'm sure he did!" the service guy replies. "SON, I MARK MY TIRES AND THEY AIN'T MOVED!" I said as I pointed to my mark in the rubber. In the back of my mind remembering what my Dad would have done to that guy in this scenario.

"So!" I said in a controlled tone. "We gonna pop the hood and recheck everything that guy did!" We did check everything and all was well. The service guy took it around back and rotated those tires.

Forgetting to rotate the tires ain't really no big deal. However, lying to my face is serious business and I made sure that the young service guy understood that.

I know, I know, I should just do the service myself. I really didn't show-out too bad. There are bigger concerns in the world than rotating some tires.

I am reading the Civil War narrative, three book series, by Shelby Foote. It is GREAT and I can hardly put it down!

We have the Old Retired People's 100 yard rimfire match on Tuesday. Then next Saturday, I'm competing in the official/sanctioned 50 yard rimfire match too. We are really looking forward to shooting.

Bless all-y'all and have a great week in the Lord!

Hot and Humid is part of the Tennessee state motto, especially in July. Today would have been my mother's 98th birthday and if living and able she would be getting all "poodled up" for church.

She was a great mother but, had a "mean streak." I guess going up as one of seven, she had to be tough. RIP Mom and tell Daddy hello!

Headed up to the reloading room for some R&R.

Added to the prayer list.

The Sabbath was yesterday, but will be at worship later this morning as well.

Worship part of the service is an unknown- depends on which worship leader will be leading it. If it's either of two guys, it'll be good worship music. If it's either of two other guys or a girl, it'll be little more than a performance of "contemporary" Christian music, which will swing my mood entirely the wrong way. It's a struggle but I try to deal with it.

My own weight is coming down. Not looking forward to the usual Monday morning weight spike tomorrow- that happens every week like clockwork. Lose about three pounds from Mon to Sun, then on the following Mon I'm up one or two, repeat the process. It equates to an overall loss of 21 pounds since Feb of this year, so I can't complain.

After church we'll go eat at the usual place, where the waitress will know to bring us two Arnold Palmers when she sees us come thru the door, then she'll put in our somewhat complicated Cobb salad order without even asking us.

Have a blessed day Leon, even if you're day off. :D

WardenRoss,

May I suggest next time you go to have your truck serviced, and you take Quiqley with you, when it comes time to pay the bill, have the service rep look into Quigley's eyes, and tell him face to face with Quigley that "Everything" has been done.

Quigley's eyes will tell!!!!!!!!

Good afternoon, everybody. It's going to be a hot one again here in southcentral PA. I looked out the door and saw the birds had pretty well emptied the feeder I filled 2 days ago, so I started the day by filling the feeder.

I got back from the diner up in Hanover a little while ago. I had to go to the post office in Hanover to mail something and figured that I was most of the way to the diner so I'd go up and hope that they had their breakfast buffet. During the pandemic some places closed down their buffets so I was glad to find one that was operating again. Since my waitress didn't know me from before, I made sure to tell her I was leaving Golden Dollars for her tip and not quarters. She understood and said her kids would be happy.

My uncle and I had our daily texts. We've been doing it now for 5 1/2 years and the day doesn't feel complete until we've done it. At our ages it's a good thing that somebody is checking in on us.

My extended family is going to have a reunion here next Sunday. One of my cousins and I are making the arrangements. Unfortunately my aunts and uncles from out of town won't be able to make it but a bunch of my cousins are coming, and I'm always happy to see them. I'm the patriarch of my generation so I got to watch all of my cousins grow up.

I guess I've rambled on enough. Everybody keep cool and enjoy the day.

Where did the week go again? Another day from the Blessed Lord!

I love to take a glass baking dish and cut slices of onions and cover them with a slice of tomato....pad of butter on each one and sprinkle with Parmo cheese..... bake till tender and done....cook or grill some sweet corn and sop up the mater onion cheese butter with your corn....talk about heaven on earth!

Peace...stay safe

Well hello all. We had no service at my church today as our pastor had to be out of town and we aren't large enough for a substitute. Did however watch the streaming service that I usually watch when we are unable to go and it was very good.

Anyway Joe you are right about NO Minor surgeries. Hope your MBH gets to feeling better, mine has arthritis in her arms and shoulders and sometimes almost more thatn she can do to even go.

Anyway I am grateful for all we do have. Hope everyone had a great Sabbath and will have a blessed week.

We may have to try this dish. Anything with fresh tomatoes has got to be good.

Have a blessed day,

Leon
