I'm glad yesterday is over. That was the first Mother's day without my Mom. It was also my Dad's birthday, he passed 8 years ago. I am actually glad it's Monday.
remember all the good times you spent with them & treasure those memories... and if you have kids/grandkids... share those stories with them....it will help to keep them alive in their own memories.
A good friend of mine lost his Mom to breast cancer 8 weeks ago. We went to see the Sugarland Skeeters last weekend on Breast Cancer Awareness night. He had to take a walk for a while when all the survivors lined up on the 3rd base line. It got to him.
My Mom's been absent from us two Mother's Days now. Time does take away some of the sadness - and replaces it with happier memories, if we let it. Hope it's that way for you next year.
...my wife's Mom passed away May 3rd...so she missed Mother's Day...but at long last she is at peace after 8 years of the hellish progression of Alzheimer's dementia...
It never gets any easier. I lost my mom on Christmas day 1991. I still remember what I was doing when I heard about it. I was lying on the floor of my livingroom next to the fireplace-listening to an Elvin Bishop song on the radio. It was "Fooling around and fell in love." To this day-my eyes greatly water on hearing that song. Lost my dad in Aug 88, and a brother on his birthday Dec 14, 1993.
