I really like these loaders for my L frames. I'd like to find a few for the M28 and J frames. Looks like these were never made for the M28 or Jframe though? At least I don't see them listed on Safariland's site.

I see a comp I for the J frame .357 M60 and assume this is the same cylinder pattern for any J frame .38 to .357 correct?

But there is nothing listed for the M28. Thought I'd bounce this off the rest of you gents to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Thanks much,

638,

There is a Comp III style loader offered for the J-frame, and I highly recommend it!

It is imported from Austria by Buffer Technologies. You can buy it direct off of their website or have your dealer order it. I obtained mine through a local dealer for a couple of bucks less. It's very fast.

They also have them for K and L frames also, but sadly, no N-frames.

The appropriate speedloader for the six-shot, .38 caliber N-frames (M20, M23, M27, M28) is the Comp I Model J-N1. Safariland discontinued this model (along with several others) in 2007, presumably due to low sales. New old-stock and used loaders at large gun shops and gun shows are your only source now.

Happy hunting! They can still be found at reasonable prices. Next year... maybe a different story.

FWIW, the J-S5 is for the .44 caliber N-frames.

I don't think so. Holsters.com (Safariland's commercial website) still lists a number of Comp I's, II's, and III's for sale.

I'm told by the factory that the # J-S5 is NOT for the N-frame Mod-28 (.357) but for the N-frame .44 cal Mod # 29 or 629 or 624.
Haggis has the correct information on his webb site. As Haggis has said, the J-N1 speedloader is dis-continued.

Bob:
638 shooter, Safariland shows a part # J-S5 speedloader for the N-frame S&W. Your M-28 is a N frame so it should fit. It is a comp 1. Good luck.

Thanks all for the info, especially for that J-N1 model number haggis!

Sounds like it may be a hard one to find. I have one of the .44 N frames, but will be looking for the J-N1, J-C7 and JK2C.

Thanks again,
