Hi
I am happily acquiring a S&W 29-3 Snubbie. I shoot all my guns and this one will be no exception. It was fired early in its life but not in the last 15 years and never by its current owner. And actually I will probably not shoot more than a couple dozen rounds a year, if that.
I reload and have used a soft load (7.1 grains Unique, with a 240 grain lead bullet. Book MV=950 fps and 481 ft/lbs of energy.) That is not much over half of the energy of a max load. It is a total ***** cat in my 6" 29-3. And it's not much more powerful than a .44 Special round.
Do any of you guys think this will be a problem in this, an older short barreled gun? (I guess I should add that in the unlikely event I were to decide to carry it, I would load it with some heavy duty stuff and hope I never have to use it.)
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
