I have been carrying my model 36 S&W 2" barrel .38 in a Blackhawk nylon holster inside-the-pants holster. I was in the Military Police Corp so I am used a side holster, an inside-the-pants holster is new to me. I can't seem to shake the feeling that this isn't a safe way to holster a firearm, as it seems something could make contact with the trigger causing an accidental discharge. Just looking for opinions. Seems like a leather inside-the-pants holster would be safer.

Yes to everything you said.
I prefer fitted holsters that cover the trigger, either leather or kydex.

Blackhawk Holsters

I would toss the Blackhawk nylon holster. I've tried a couple of nylon IWB and OWB holsters of other brands folks tried to convince me of. Didn't like them...uncomfortable, floppy, etc.

Blackhawk also makes leather IWB holsters for J-frames. Here is a picture of mine. Very comfortable. Sometimes I carry it cross draw between belt and pants instead of IWB.

Pictured with a Charter Arms Undercover...I use it for that and J-frames.

that holster seems like it would be a better fit.

Yes it is a good fit. I think it would be a little flatter if the clip was moved back towards the trigger guard and off the hump the cylinder makes. I see some brands that are made that way. Would it work as good that way? I dunno.

Unless you're wedded to the idea of IWB carry, you have a splendid little pocket revolver. In a good pocket holster it would be easily accessed and well concealed without a jacket or untucked shirt.

The fact is that if you have to draw the gun in a true red-alert SHTF situation, re-holstering will almost certainly be the least of your worries.

Definitely not wedded to the idea of a IWB. May look at some pocket holsters.

For IWB carry with a snub, I've always loved the old-style soft suded spring-clip designs. Originally $5 jobs, I believe Bianchi/Safariland still offers them for about $30. I've found three 'lightly used' in the 'junk'/$1 box at a range. With use, they tend to 'curl' around the gun, eliminating any slight bulge. The more modern nylon/spring clip designs are not as friendly as they cause a bulge in the waistband.

I looked at the Bianchi online, they are a very nice looking design. I guess the problem is that until I purchase any of these holster, it is going to hard to tell which one would fit me best.

And by the time you get to the proverbial "Yellow Brick Road", you'll have a dresser drawer full of holsters that you don't really use anymore, just like the rest of us! In all seriousness, for every holster that you find to be functional and what you are looking for, you'll have two or three that you didn't make the cut. It's OK though, that's what the classified section is for!

My shield in a tucker gun leather iwb tuckable holster that I carry daily.

I don't really care about tuckability since my normal garb is an untucked t-shirt, but I do like the adjustable height belt clip on that Tucker holster. A stiff leather holster is maybe the best bet for IWB carry at the 3 or 4 oclock position, but I prefer a soft (even flimsy) holster for appendix IWB. I use a size 2 Ace Case non-tuckable IWB holster for my 2" j-frames, it's made of a soft glove leather with some sort of fabric lining and is very comfortable. Rides at the perfect (for me) height also- with the grip just above the belt. Although it wasn't designed that way, if you look at the thumbnail photo you can see how the soft holster kind of squirmed itself around into an offset clip configuration.

Depends on the holster. I love IWB and all my triggers and guards are covered. ...so im not sure where the idea that if isn't is coming from. Cheesy cheap Uncle Mikes and other nylon holsters are loose and uncomfortable. They also stretch out and usually only have one clip.

I carry in a Galco King Tuck or Crossbreed. Both are quality, durable and have 2 clips wide apart to spread out the weight combined with a good belt and any gun is comfortable and SAFE to cary.

You might consider one of the LOBOGUNLEATHER
offset clip holsters, and you can get it with the hammer-shield
to protect your valuable hide as well. Hope this helps.
Can be had in cow- or horse-hide. (Yes, I am biased)

The DeSantis Nemesis is an excellent pocket holster. Reduces printing, won't shift in the pocket, holds the gun properly indexed for the draw, and is slick inside, grippy on the outside. It's inexpensive but not cheap or shoddy.

On the relatively rare occasions when my pants pocket du jour doesn't accommodate the Nemesis well I use the Uncle Mike's pocket holster, and item at which they are very good. I used the Uncle Mike's for years before I discovered the Nemesis. Again, inexpensive doesn't mean junk.

beautiful holster!

For IWB, you want the holster to be as thin as possible. The ballistic nylon type holster will work just fine and you do not have to worry about the weapon being fired inadvertently. Leather is prettier, but adds to thickness.

I agree with one of the previous posters, however. If you are going to use a belt holster of any type, get a bigger weapon. A J frame, like an M&P Shield, SIG 290RS, Beretta Nano, Ruger LC9, Glock 26/27, and similar, is strictly a pocket holster weapon.
