Safety Removal 2.0 - Same as Previous?

I am preparing to remove safety on a 2.0 9mm 5" and install frame plugs. I was wondering is process is same as for previous model? I'm not sure if that part of the gun is the same. Anybody tried it?

No problemo. Just got the frame plugs from S&W in todays mail and removed the safety in all of 5 minutes.

I read on the internet somewhere (you've been warned of the source) that widespread speculation is the rebate program going on until Jun 31 is clearing out the last of the 1.0s, and a new Shield 2.0 is on the horizon. Personally, I think the Shield 45 grip is awesome, and would be stellar on the 9.

Do these plugs work for the thumb safety removal on the M&P22?
And are they free from S&W?
