Same old question 19–3 dating

Long time reader of your forums just joined after purchasing this on Monday shot it yesterday all I can say is wow
Doing one thing I cannot figure out is a manufacturer year pretty sure it’s mid 70s. Just wondering if the knowledge in the forms can direct me more specifically to a certain year.
Appreciate all the help.

A 3 inch round-butt 19-3 in beautiful condition. Whatever it’s exact vintage, congrats on an absolutely epic acquisition!

8K puts it in 1975. Not sure about the actual shipping date; only a historical letter can provide that answer.

To my old eyes, that looks like a 2 1/2" barrel.

8K numbers were assigned in 1975, 1976 and 1977.

In 1975, they ran from 8K1 to 8K20763, so yes, this one is from 1975. As Gil stated, it may not have shipped that year.

I also agree with Gil that it looks like a 2 1/2" barrel.

Welcome to the Forum! You picked up a nice mid-70s blued Model 19-3 snubby. These are highly desirable revolvers, and popular here on the Forum. It probably deserves a little nicer holster than that old Hunter that I assume it came with, but it'll work for now. Give it a good cleaning and some wax and it'll shine! Enjoy!

S&W Customer Service 1-800-331-0852 CS will give you an exact date according to their records. Not sure if they will id as production or shipping date.
Your other option is to submit an on-line form to the S&W Historical Society with a check for $100 (I believe).
