Just 4 days ago I stopped in a LGS and discovered a nice condition "no dash" Model 15 and brought it home. Today I stopped in to look for a nice pancake holster for it, and stumbled up on this...

A very nice Model 686-2

It's clean, tight, shows very little wear, and if I have bologna for lunch a couple days, affordable. So, I brought it home.

It's innards show very little wear either. I think it spent lots of time laying around

..and, the guys even knew the story behind the grips. The fellow trading it in was trading it on a new S&W that was wearing those grips. BUT, he liked the 686's grip better, so they swapped them out for him right there.

I'm pretty sure they knew I'd be along sooner or later.

Oops. Edit to add target picture. Now, this was off a sandbag from a bench, I'm not going to claim to do that offhand. 158 grn LSWC at 25 yards.

I bought this Galco to use with my S&W 10/64 revolvers, but swapped it to my son for a Bianchi Shadow 8L I had given him along with a S&W 66-2. Both holsters ride high and tight on the belt.

That's just the kind of thing I was looking for. But, when I found the 686 I sort of forgot why I was there.

That is a very nice looking 686. Personally I really don't mind the looks of the new style grips that are on it. I don't own any but if I come across a set reasonable I will likely try them out. JA

PS. Don't you love your model 15. I enjoy the heck out of mine.

Good find, very nice looking gun.

Your remark about accuracy makes me laugh about a recent post on one forum. Some guy takes his girl friend out to shoot for the first time and claims that toward the end of the day she was shooting 2” groups offhand at 25 yds with a CCW sized 9mm. Talk about idiotic claims. Don
