Sanity Check?

OK folks, feeling like I am slipping a bit mentally. I just upgraded my 2nd MP M2.0 9mm to the APEX barrel and triggers. That said, the upgrades appear well, HOWEVER,... I found this steel pin/roller?... on the floor in front of my chair where I was doing the upgrade. I know for a fact that it was not there an hour or two earlier, because I did indeed drop and retrieve a couple of errant MP M2.0 9mm springs/parts.

Bottom line, I cannot, for the best of me, figure out what this may be. It looks well machined and polished, a roller pin?, or .... what? Does this thing look familiar to anyone? Still have all the tools I just used here at the desk with me. I even checked over my high dollar office chair with a fine tooth comb. The only time I had parts come off of a rolling shop stool, they were ball bearings.

Pulled it apart and there was the "hole" where it goes. You saved the day. BTW what would have happened, if fired without this deactivation pin?

Nothing. It holds the lever and spring that allows you to lower the sear and remove the slide without pulling the trigger. If you had a mag safety, it would be here too.

I did the same when I put an Apex trigger in my new 5 inch MP9.
Saw that roll pin afterwards, but everything checked out as far as function, so I went shooting. After a few shots, the sear deactivation lever fell out on the bench. Got home and put the lever and pin back in.
It fired fine without the lever.

My apologies for having originally posted this plea for assistance in the "Lounge" thread. I received an infraction for doing that and this thread has now been posted in M&P Pistols where it originally belongs.

I did not know at first if the "part" was actually associated with my pistol. In the end, it was discovered to actually be from my pistol and not some accidental item from a different activity or part of my office chair.
