Saw more primers for sale

I didn't start loading back in the 60s or 70s so the least I ever paid for primers was $15 to $17/k. Then after a long time they were $19-$20/k when they started going up to $22 then $25 I hated it. Then $30/k started so when I was at a large show and saw primers for $24/k that day I bought 20,000 in lots of 5,000. I would love to say I saw the shortages coming but the truth is, I bought all those primers because I'm cheap and didn't want to pay $30/k lol.

A few week later at another show the same vendor was selling again at the same price and I bought an additional 20,000 primers. Called a few friends and picked up 35,000 more for them. I'm very happy I did buy them at that time because it has saved me from a lot of pain. As I have said before, I was only able to buy so many because I have family in the area with several different homes so I can store them legally and not run afoul of the local fire ordinances. I'm very lucky on many fronts.

Happened to go in local Academy Sports yesterday, they had some of every primer size. Big RIP OFF was their SRP's are $12.99/ 100 instead of $6.99 like last week. Go figure. They did have Rem. SPP for $7.99/100, a guy next to me bought 2 K of them. May head to Bass Pro/ Cabelas and check their prices?

The good news. They are becoming available. Not long ago, none were to be found. Now all we need is a little price adjustment.
Got a email this morning from Bruno's shooting, with primers for sale.

Is it possible the $12.99 primers were Bench Rest Primers? I found $130 CCI primers at Scheels recently and that turned out to be the case.

I love how everybody thinks inflation isn't a thing. when the federal reserve act was passed in 1914, the dollar had 50X the value. I'm sorry, words mean whatever you TV tells you, not their actual meaning. 2+2=5.

$70-80 is the new price for now. It's not going to go back to $35.

I'm glad the price won't go back to $35/k because that's to high. (sorry, I just had to) :p :D

I bought a thousand small rifle primers for $100 over the weekend, and was happy to get them.

There is no E vile conspiracy. Prices will go down when the demand goes down. Why would the manufacturer lower the price when people (like me) will pay up for them?

I'd gladly pay $80 per brick if I could find any at that price. And I'm not even out. I'd just like to stock more since I think going forward $80 will be cheap.

Those who say they will never pay more than $30 might as well sell their equipment when they use up their current stock of primers.

Inflation alone will keep the prices above $5.50 per hundred.

If inflation is being quoted your numbers don't jive. If primers were $35/k just before the crunch and inflation hit then at the current inflation rate or even @ 10% that would add $3.50 to $35 for $38.50. A far cry from $55/k.

I was somewhat joking about $40/k but in reality that should be doable but of course the primer manufacturers have no reason to bring the prices back where they should be since so many reloaders showed them how much they are willing to pay. Same goes for ammo.

The worst thing that could have happened did happen when primers were being bought @$150/k.

I just decided to dip my toe in the Ginex pool of small pistol primers as well. At $420 per 5000 with free shipping and no extra HazMat charges incurred so far, it works out to just under 8 1/2 cents per primer. That is the best price I've been able to find in years.

As for the primers themselves, all primer brand elitism aside, I'm reasonably sure I've probably already shot them in just about any Eastern European manufactured 9mm range ammo I've bought over the years without knowing exactly who made what with all the components. So, there it is...

I'm bored of shooting .22 LR all the time, which is pretty much all I've been doing since I realized a single primer was often costing me more to replace (if I could even find one) than plinking with a factory round of .22 LR. This Ginex price kind of evens the playing field.

Perhaps an influx of cheap offshore primers is what the doctor orders. Certainly can't hurt.

So, does the quality/reliability/storage life of the "cheap offshore" primers match or exceed (I'm an optimist!) That of primers from the "big name" sellers?

I just bought a carton of 5,000 CCI 300s (LP) from Target Sports for $425.00 (free shipping) + haz. fee + insurance still comes out to under $500.00. Certainly not a steal, but I have primers and my shooting won't be interrupted.
